Sustainable Capitol Hill's Urban Gardening committee is working to encourage gardening in all types of urban spaces - from front- and back-yard gardens to windowsills, balconies, containers, indoor gardens, and more. We are planning several community gardening workshops for 2009. And as part of our Waste Management Grant for 2009, we will also be helping residents of a low-income building on Capitol Hill to install a community garden and compost pile.
Additionally, we have been participating in several St. Mark's Greenbelt work parties to reinstall native plants to 6 acres of neighborhood wildlife habitat, including one such work party for Green Seattle Day on November 8, 2008.
