Update: The long search for a location is finally over: Thanks to the generosity of the First Covenant Church in providing a location, Sustainable Capitol Hill is proud to announce that the Tool Library is planning to open by early Fall of this year. It will be located at the Summit Building on 420 E. Pike St., with the entrance on Crawford Pl., between Pike St. and Pine St. With this, Capitol Hill will join the ranks of West Seattle, Phinney Ridge, North East Seattle, and the coming Columbia City Tool Libraries in enjoying a local community of knowledgeable fixers, tool lending, and workshops. We still have a lot of work to do, and volunteers are a key ingredient to bringing this all together. Join us for our Tool Library Building Meetings on the 3rd Tuesdays of the month. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, March 17. We will also be taking membership pledges, as well as donations, so if you’d like to join our community, let us know! Please visit the tool library website for more information, or RSVP for our meeting.
Sign the Pledge - We are trying to document community support for our project. So if you are willing to donate some time or tools at any point over the next year, please fill out this survey or send us an email (toollibrary (at) sustainablecapitolhill.org) telling us how many hours you would be willing to volunteer or what tools (and their approximate value) you have to donate. Thanks in advance. Now back to the regularly scheduled programming...
Sustainable Capitol Hill is seeking to start a Tool Library, a place to borrow tools you don't already own, and a place to use them if you don't have a garage. If you're interested in helping us create this wonderful neighborhood resource or if you have further questions, please contact us at toollibrary (at) sustainablecapitolhill.org.
Check out our tool inventory. Feel free to create an account and give it a test drive. Admittedly it's pitiful at the moment as we wait for donations. If you have any tools you would like to donate, send us an email to arrange for a drop off or pickup. We'll start showing up at events this summer where you can bring tools by. You can also let us know what tools or equipment you wish we had. Today, I wish we had an ice cream maker, food dehydrator, and bicycle repair stand.
We have a short survey (5 questions) if you want to let us know what you think about the tool library.
Planning meeting: Tuesday March 17, 6:30 pm at the Braeburn (1410 E Pine St)
